Cats 'n' Us ShelterThe shelter is in a small house. Every room has been utilized to service the cats in one way or another. When you enter the door on the left (below yellow arrow), you go into a narrow hallway that has been converted into the business area. When a cat is brought in, or adopted, the paperwork is done here.

The white door on the right, goes into a room that has a screened wall and door to a room to the right which is used for kittens and cats who are recuperating from surgery. Straight ahead is a door that goes outside to a screened-in porch.

Back in the office area, if you go to the right, you arrive in the kitchen. Below are pictures of the kitchen area, showing that cats like to congregate in the kitchen just like people do.

Cats congregating in the kitchen.
The office is to the extreme right. In the background are stairs going to the room beside the post-op and kitty room.

Kitchen sink and view of stairs and screened kitty/post-op room
The stairs are seen more clearly here. Notice the little guy climbing the screen. Volunteer, BJ, is in the screened room feeding the kittens and post-op cats.
Too many cooks in the kitchen.
Another view from the kitchen toward the stairs. The tabby is still on the screen.
Recuperating cats
These cats are recuperating from surgery. This is the area beyond the screen that the tabby was climbing on in the pictures above.
View of cages of recuperating cats.
Recuperating or unsociable cats and kittens. The guy outside thinks the food inside probably tastes better.
Kitties!

Composite picture of the laundry room
This is a composite of several pictures, put together to show what the laundry room looks like. There are flaws where the different photos overlap, but it gives a better idea of what the room looks like than seeing individual pictures. Notice the kitty shelves on the wall with the little stairs. The cats like to lounge here. This room is off the kitchen, to the left when you come in from the office.
Another picture in the laundry room, showing washer.
To the right of the door in the laundry room is a washer for keeping all the bedding fresh.

End of the shelter with a mural by John Ranta, area artist.

The screened porch can be seen in this picture of the side of the shelter. This mural greets visitors when they pull in the parking lot.

The shelter is amazingly clean for having so many cats and kittens. The volunteers take great pride in what they do and provide a wonderful environment for these cats and kitties. But the cats and kitties would have a better chance to thrive if adopted into loving homes where they can receive the individual love and attention they deserve.
